MAKING SMOOTHIE POPSICLES WITH YOUR KIDS – Kids like candy. So do adults of course, but kids are like tiny miniature sugar addicts. They want it every day, all day. Every time I pack a lunch, it’s about what snack they can have as their treat. When I pick them up from school, it’s all about going to get a treat at the 7/11, Yogurty’s or Baskin & Robbins (though I admit I’m the enabler of that one). Not five minutes have passed after dinner when they ask about getting a snack. Bunch of little junkies! In the summertime, it’s all about ice cream and popsicles. So I decided one afternoon to make our own popsicles from fresh smoothies. The kids each chose their own selection of fruit and poured them into the popsicle molds before putting them in the freezer for a couple of hours. Guess what happened? They LOVED them! I mean, seriously loved them. They were gone in about five minutes flat. So the next time your kids ask you for another sugar-filled popsicle, pull out the frozen fruit and grab a couple of stools so you can make them together. Not only are they delicious, but they’re healthy and give you an opportunity to make something together as a family.
