APPETIZERS AT A WEDDING – Everyone knows that the best food at a wedding is NOT the main meal, which usually consists of bland chicken or fish alongside a few boring vegetables and tasteless baby potatoes. I mean, seriously. People pay a hundred bucks a plate for that crap?! Certainly not when there are those fabulous appetizers that come out in between the ceremony and the reception. We’re talking mini spring rolls, chicken skewers in peanut sauce, mini sliders, individual Dixie-cup-sized mac ‘n cheese, and fresh cut fries with garlic mayo dipping sauce. I ask you, is there any reason at all to even have a main meal? Obviously, all food is better when it’s mini-sized. So don’t hesitate to fill up on those delightful little pieces of heaven, because you know as well as I do, that you’ll most likely push around your main meal like a six-year-old convinced she’s allergic to vegetables, and wait for the dessert table to be brought out. Just remember there are a few rules for tackling the appetizers at a wedding:
1. When getting dressed for the evening, do not wear anything that tightly presses against your stomach. You will need room for the delicious delicacies.
2. Once you’ve survived the ceremony, making eyes with the bride towards the emergency exists just in case she needs to make a ‘run for it’, head on towards reception where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of champagne. But do remember to pace yourself as the stomach is not that smart, and will be tricked into thinking its full; leaving little room for all the appetizers your eyes wish to consume.
3. Scan the reception hall immediately upon entering to locate the wistful waiters and identify the path leading to the kitchen. Then slowly, without creating too much attention, make your way over to the site of the culinary creations while maintaining a healthy distance so as not to appear like a complete mental person. You also don’t want to alert anyone else to your clever plan of being the first guest to taste the appetizers right out of the oven.
As long as you follow those rules, you should be good to go. So enjoy the wedding, and bask in all the min madness because appetizers at a wedding are truly GAME CHANGERS!
