#146 Watching kids open presents over the holidays

Seeing your kids faces when they open their Chrismmukah presents. I’m Jewish, as is my husband. But come on. Who doesn’t want to celebrate Christmas? The tree. The lights. The array of Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis Presley Christmas songs. It’s about family, music, food, and giving. Every year each member of my family gets a new ornament to put on the tree. For us, it could be a miniature Elsa or Anna from Frozen for my daughter, Chewbacca or R2D2 for my eight-year-old son, or a mini Joy ornament from the motion picture Inside Out. The ornaments are personalized and bring pure happiness to our entire family. But it’s the first night of Chanukah when we all sit down on the floor together and watch as the kids rip open their presents, while my husband and I get to watch their excited and elated faces as they discover each toy. I am filled with unadulterated joy and love. And THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING!
