SUCCESSFUL SLEEP TRAINING BABY AFTER TWO NIGHTS – Your baby is now somewhere between four to six months old, and you officially look and feel like a creature from Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. You’ve made it through the toughest part of the Fire Swamp, and have the bags under your eyes and smell emanating from your body to prove it. Now it’s time to return to the life of the living. It’s time to sleep train your little one so that you don’t a) suffocate your husband while he sleeps, or b) eat the entire contents of the children’s junk cupboard. So it’s in everyone’s best interest that you get more sleep. Thankfully, my partner has been on this merry-go-round before. So we made a make-shift bed with the couch pillows for him to sleep on in the baby’s room and set it up with blankets and pillows. The first night he put her down awake in her crib, she had no idea what was going on. He made sure she saw him leave the room, which is exactly when she started to cry. He then snuck back in on all fours and curled up on the floor beside her crib, ready to ‘shush’ as needed. She cried for about fifteen minutes, which was hard for me to hear, and then she fell asleep. She woke up once for a few minutes but that was it the first night. The second night, he “shushed” from the door for about five to ten minutes, and then she was out cold for the night. That was it! Done. I don’t know what the process looks like for others, but by the second night, I was in bed by 8:00pm and slept for nine hours. And that CHANGES EVERYTHING!
