#329 The Funky Monkey

Back in the summer of 2012, my best friend Stacie and I decided to rent a cottage in the small town of Durango, Colorado. Since parting ways after graduate school in in 2007 - I had moved back to Toronto and she moved to Denver, Colorado – we had rarely seen each other. So we finally decided to look online for a rental for a full week of some serious girl bonding time. After unpacking our bags, we would settle onto the patio furniture with books, music and healthy meals. We ate, we read, we watched movies, we napped, and we talked about everything. We rarely, if ever, left the beautiful cabin that lay upon a mountain in the middle of the forests. We were in the deep woods to say the least; so deep in fact that when I came out of the cabin one morning to stretch on the front porch, I found myself face-to-face with a deer, who apparently wanted to stretch it out on our porch as well. However, when Stacie and I did leave the cabin, it was usually to walk down to the river, find the closest Baskin & Robbins, or visit the coolest bar in town that made the best drink I’ve ever had in my life.

The very second that cold, thick, sweet drink hits your lips, your entire face becomes happy. I’m talking eyes light up, cheeks get flushed (though that’s probably from the alcohol) and your mouth slowly turns upward into a satisfied smile. Serious Game Changer here folks!
